Recommended Podcasts

I love podcasts. Here's some that I'd love to recommend—and by that I mean here's all the ones I regularly listen to for non-hate-listen reasons.

Pinned shows

These are podcasts that I've "pinned" to the top of my list and try to keep up-to-date on and/or finish listening through the archives.

  • The two co-founders of The Pillar chat about the week's Catholic news.
  • Discussions on how podcasting is being improved by the Podcast Index.
  • What started as a quick discussion show about whether or not certain things are a robot has now broadened to all sorts of other taxonomical questions.
  • A brief bio on an Orthodox Saint recognised on the day of release.
  • A thrice-weekly rundown of recent tech news.
  • Discussions of audio nerdity.
  • A Brit and a Yank discuss a Wikipedia article of interest.
  • Two Canadian geeks discuss the week's tech headlines.
Drama shows

I keep these separate because I like to listen to them at times that I can devote more attention to them compared to my normal listening.

  • A mystery thriller about a vanished research facility and the journalist investigating it.
  • An improvised sci-fi comedy show.
  • First they play an old mystery/similar show. Then they discuss it, asking if it still works as a story today.
  • Community radio broadcasts from a surreal desert town where "every conspiracy theory is true" is what I was told, but I'd say it's better described as a place where everything in Dewey Decimal number 001.9 is real.
Others

These shows are ones that I keep subscribed to and when I'm caught up on the pinned shows above, I will peruse this list for interesting episodes.

  • About the creative process behind sci-fi and fantasy storytelling.
  • Two people in their 40s (?) talk about things are are, well, A Thing—usually a bit behind the trend but still more with it than I am.
  • A "fake internet judge" makes rulings on real disputes.
  • Long-form content about the heyday of a specific past civilisation and its downfall.
  • The Lonely Island tell their story.
  • A cultural history of the 1990s told through iconic tracks.
  • Artists break down one of their songs and tell the story behind the writing and production.
  • An Orthodox priest explains the meanings behind each of the titles given to Christ.
